Be the rat, not the cage

  1. Rage is human
  2. Rage is essential
  3. Rage is good
  4. People with testosterone-dominant hormonal regimes have more access to rage.

Masculine adulthood is not about suppressing, overcoming, or being ashamed of your rage.

Rage is a chainsaw. Adulthood is about directing it. Carrying it well. Keeping it away from children. Caring for it so it doesn’t throw a chain and hurt the ones it is meant to help. It’s about safing the zone, knowing your capacity, planning the cut by deciding the outcome and working backward from there.

And then laying waste.

“Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a…” then leave. Cages don’t crush rage they just turn it inward. Make a door. No one has infinite options; no one has none. Stop scrabbling at walls; choose a tiny lever you can reach, and bring the hammer down. Then look for the next bigger lever.

Your rage is your birthright; carry it in strength, in purpose, in confidence. Let the ferocious creature of your body shatter walls and build havens.
